Your Voter Guide
Branding, Logo Design, Website Graphics

Your Voter Guide is a free tool that guides registered voters to the correct polling location.  I was commissioned the role of graphic designer for both the web interface and logo / branding.

I wanted the site to reflect a new breed of politic, which is why I chose to do a traditional starburst background with a nontypical blue gradient in the background.

I wanted the information on the site to come across incredibly clean, and super legible for older folks (since they make up most of the voting population.)

Originally, the logo was going to be a symbol of the united states on each side of "Your Voter Guide", or to perhaps incorporate the shape of our nation into the type.

However, I realized that many government organizations have a crest of sorts, so I decided to use a compass as the basis for my design.  From there, I took the traditional 4 point compass design and modified it to be a star - A 5 pointed star with alternating colors, like the old Texan star (or the Norcal star for us norcalians).

The logo comes across with 50 stars surrounding the emblem, patriotically, and clear, sleek text for the type.

I wanted Voter to stand out, and Your Guide to be obvious on the outside.

All in all, the branding turned out to be a success and was adopted in its first revisions.

Your Voter Guide will be launching soon, marketed to private organizations.
